👩🌾 Coffee farmer Amalia Godínez
Doña Amalia, originally from Chanjalé, is the pillar of a family of small producers. Like many women in the community, she is in charge of taking care of a small plot.
Year after year, she obtains high-quality fruits since the climatic conditions, the richness of her Volcanic soils, natural diversity, and an excellent altitude make Chanjalé an ideal place for growing coffee with excellent attributes.
Coffee arrived in Chiapas through Guatemala. At the beginning of the 19th century, European immigrants introduced the cultivation to the entire Soconusco area.
Coffee trees are found on the slopes of the mountains, on steep terrain, and in the shade, taking care of the environment's biodiversity, which provides extraordinary value to such valuable crops.
